All funding initiatives are filtered through the four centers of the Children’s Discovery Institute. Submitted proposals must be immediately relevant to the applicable Center’s research focus. The Children’s Discovery Institute supports the following funding mechanisms: Interdisciplinary Research Initiatives, Postdoctoral Fellowships, Faculty Recruitment Awards, Educational Initiatives, and Infrastructure and Core Large Initiatives.
Proposals will be scored on the following funding objectives:
- Relevance to mission of CDI centers and childhood disease
- Multi-disciplinary research model
- Potential for acquisition of new knowledge/translational impact and scientific excellence
- High likelihood for significant impact given the resources requested
- Programs synergistic with Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital
Although all faculty are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to faculty members prior to achieving tenure and to teams composed of investigators from multiple disciplines. All investigators receiving CDI funding will be expected to participate fully in the ongoing activities of the specific Center relevant to their proposed work.
