Every year, approximately 3500 children are diagnosed with leukemia, accounting for 33% of all cases of pediatric cancer. Another type of blood cancer, lymphoma, is the third most common cancer in children.

Now, research funded by the Children's Discovery Institute aims to shed new light on pediatric blood cancers.  Jeff Bednarski, MD, PhD is working to understand how damage to the DNA of white blood cells, if not repaired by the cell, can predispose to leukemia and lymphoma.
