The Children’s Discovery Institute began as a vision of several key leaders at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.  These leaders dreamed of launching a research institute where scientists from multiple disciplines could work collaboratively to focus their expertise on discovering cures to deadly and crippling childhood diseases. 

Significant financial resources were required to make this vision a reality.  St. Louis Children’s Hospital Foundation launched the Building for Care, Searching for Cures campaign to fund this important initiative.  Overwhelming support from generous investors helped bring the Children’s Discovery Institute to life.
