The research activities of the Children’s Discovery Institute are intended to leverage the broad strengths and diversity of the faculty to create new interdisciplinary research teams that will accelerate medical discovery. Expertise has been organized in collaboration with leaders in such areas as nanotechnology within the Department of Chemistry and computational biology and genetics with the Center for Genome Sciences. The Children’s Discovery Institute will act as a catalyst for unique and novel interactions among these interdisciplinary teams, providing the incentive for innovation and the tools for discovery. Ultimately, such scientific advances will be translated to breakthrough care for our patients.

The research infrastructure for the Children’s Discovery Institute exists across the Medical Center and the University and includes dedicated space within the McDonnell Pediatric Research Building and numerous other Departments on the Washington University campus.
